Happy 70th birthday, Sir Tom!

A very happy birthday to Sir Tom who turns 70 today. Despite dealing with bronchitis, he celebrated and sang with style at his 70th Birthday Celebration concert at Wigmore Hall last night. Martin Kettle of The Guardian and John Allison of The Telegraph gave warm reviews of the special occasion here and here.

Here's hoping that he recovers soon and many happy returns, Sir Tom!

Christmas Concert at Durham Cathedral

Sir Thomas will be back in Durham this Saturday not in his role as Chancellor but as baritone soloist at the Christmas Concert to take place at the cathedral; also taking part are Prince Bishops Brass. Sir Tom was also recently interviewed by David Whetstone from The Journal ahead of this weekend's concert which starts at 7.30 pm.

Sir Tom's masterful Vancouver debut

Sir Tom's first recital in Vancouver on 13th June has proved to be a triumph with David Gordon Duke from The Vancouver Sun describing it as "an object lesson in the art of singing, and a summation of his lifetime’s service to the art of music" and enchanting an audience which "hung on every phrase, admiring and absorbing his vocabulary of vocal effects and revelling in the scope of his technique".
